Wondering
how
things suddenly change
like the ground, that was stable
can just become a hole
and swallow you
and cover you
with the weight
of it's darkness.
How.
It's like
the sun never knew you
and what it was like to kiss you golden brown
and embrace you in warmth
and put light in your eyes
and keep you looking to purple-pink skies.
How,
when you used to know
the earth cradled you
like its child,
keeping you rooted and stable.
How
the oak sitting next to you now,
it's leaves whispering
remember.
And you breath in
the smell of the one that never changes,
the witness within,
she is green
she is the wind
she is your spirit
wearing you like a fragrance.
And that
is how.
