Seeing

 When you see something

whether in the real world

or the inner world

of your mind

or dreams

but once it hits the screen of the retina

it is there

unforgiving

unapologetic

honest

and truthful

simply being what it is.

The only way to erase it

is to focus your gaze on something else

but maybe seeing 

the truth

is the answer

while looking elsewhere

is pretense

a lie

one you can never uphold

for too long.
