Lavish
When I was a child,
some days we only ate once,
corn porridge
or green banana porridge.
It was creamy and tasty
made with carnation and condensed milk.
There were sprinkles of cinnamon
nutmeg
and cardamom.
As I ate, I would take my time
not wanting to waste any of the riches
that were held in the bowl.
The flavors were layered
and would excite me.
And I felt
that I had more than enough in that moment
because my senses were completely engaged
and awakened.
