Oscar or Big Bird?

When I was a kid, I used to watch Sesame Street and there was this character who no matter what was said or done would always have something negative to say.  His name was Oscar. Actually he was called, "Oscar the Grouch."

My favorite character Big Bird, was a giant and yellow and true to his name, but was the complete opposite of Oscar. Big bird was so very kind and always willing to help another. 

I thought that these were just "characters" in a show, but as I've grown up, sadly, it is not so.

There are so many "Oscars" walking around that they seem to out number the Big Birds.

In my case, I have fluctuated between the two and realized that I may have been, at times, "A help-rejecting-complainer."

Complaining like Oscar, but then when someone offers a Big Bird solution, I used to explain reasons why it wouldn't work.

Am I still doing that?

I wonder.
